Is there a story behind your name?
My name used to be Ruth Skater Hitsburg (since I’m going to law school) but I felt as though I was hiding behind the name when my actual birth name (Miracle) was so cool and I really wanted to be just me!
Did you have any previous athletic or skating background before starting roller derby?
I have been skating since I was about 6 and played basketball for 15 years and water polo for 2 years. Thanks to roller derby I started CrossFit too!
Tell us about your gear!
I love my helmet, even though I’m always wearing a jammer panty on top of it. It has different brewery’s stickers on it from places I have traveled to!
We all end up in the penalty box at some point. Which penalty is your favorite and why?
As a jammer, it would have to be a multiplayer penalty. I search for those when jamming so that I can hit them and get one of the blockers into the penalty box. It’s my favorite penalty to take advantage of.
What’s your favorite Orlando theme park ride?
The Tower of Terror! A classic!
What’s your favorite Orlando activity that isn’t a theme park?
I love hitting up any local brewery like Sideward or Persimmon Hollow
Everyone loves restaurant recommendations. Which Orlando area restaurant would you tell people to check out?
The milk district any day! They always have something going on and it’s all local!
