Is there a story behind your name?
My original derby name was Flux Decapitat’r, but everyone called me Flux for short. Re-Flux felt like the next evolution since I’m back after having been away from the sport for nearly a decade…think “Return of Flux” meets “Reflex” vibes, but also I’m old now and need antacids.
Did you have any previous athletic or skating background before starting roller derby?
I have always been sporty in general. I have been a runner since high school, and have completed a marathon and ultra-marathon. I also picked up snowboarding in the past decade.
Tell us about your gear!
Having a hockey helmet with a visor has been a game-changer for me, especially as a shorter skater! Also love my TSG kneepads, so well-designed.
We all end up in the penalty box at some point. Which penalty is your favorite and why?
Illegal procedure, the hand signal is basically a disco-y dance move.
What’s your favorite Orlando activity that isn’t a theme park?
Run clubs, and going to boba tea shops off Colonial
